ABOUT MACK
I started sewing very young, taught by the matriarchs of my family. By about 14, I was cutting up pretty much every piece of clothing and reconstructing it into something I actually wanted to wear. This introduced me to pattern making and, more importantly, the freedom of being able to make clothes on my own terms.
I developed a deep love for making clothes that felt good, looked right, and reflected how I wanted to be seen. As a trans person, that became an especially important skill throughout my life and transition. Clothing can completely change the way you inhabit your body, and being able to create that for myself has always felt powerful.
My background in fashion has taken me across a few different corners of the industry. My obsession with clothing, textiles and making has taken me to Berlin to work for a designer, back into study in 2020 to explore sustainability within the industry, and recently into upholstery.
I started teaching sewing last year and quickly realised how much I love it. There’s something really beautiful about passing on the things I’ve spent years figuring out the hard way. I love watching people become more confident, trust their instincts and start making things that feel completely their own.
I’m a big believer that sewing should be accessible. I like to teach how I expect you to continue which is more of a home sewing approach. My goal is always to draw you in and make you feel good about your abilities.
